“Creating communities that are moved, nourished and inspired by chamber music.”
Why Support Vetta?
Founded in 1985 by Vancouver Symphony Orchestra members, Victor Costanzi, viola, and Eugene Osadchy, cello, with the purpose of bringing the best string quartet repertoire to audiences at West Point Grey United Church. Since 2007, Vetta has grown under the leadership of Artistic Director and violinist, Joan Blackman, to now programming and presenting over 20 performances each season! Our regular season offers great chamber music repertoire, featuring the finest performing artists in the region, presenting each program no fewer than 4 times (on the West Side at West Point Grey United Church; in West Vancouver at West Vancouver United Church and the Kay Meek Arts Centre; Downtown at Pyatt Hall; and on Salt Spring Island at ArtSpring).
- Ticket sales and grants only cover a small part of the cost of bringing you top quality performances. The rest is made up of generous donations from you, the Vetta audience.
- As a fiscally responsible charitable organisation, Vetta produces a lot with a small budget.
- Private donations have become more and more integral for Vetta to present chamber music at the highest level.
- Vetta’s Annual mentorship program provides opportunities for emerging musicians to develop their professional careers through annual projects with Vetta’s seasoned professional musicians.
- Vetta has seen incredible growth under Joan’s leadership, even while government grants continue to shrink.
- Vetta supports and presents great local, and beyond, artistic talent - both performers and composers.
- Vetta is all about connecting with you, our audience, through the intimate presentation of what many consider to be the apex of classical repertoire – chamber music.
